How to get set up for editing Processing sketches in Sublime Text:
Thanks to Steve Lambert for putting this text together.

  1. Download and install Sublime Text
  2. Install Sublime Text Package Control - there are instructions on that page. It takes about 30 seconds.
  3. Restart Sublime Text - not positive this is neccessary, but it can't hurt.
  4. Install b-g's Processing-Sublime package
  5. In Processing go to Tools->install "processing-java"
  • That's it. Restart Sublime Text if needed.
  • Using Sublime Text with Processing

    1. Open a sketch from your sketchbook in Sublime Text
    2. You can set the syntax hilighting (colors) to Processing this way:
    3. Start typing functions from the processing library and you'll see words appear below what you're typing. Try rect and then hit enter. This should appear:
    4. rect(x, y, width, height);
    5. You can then tab through and change values.
    6. Run the sketch by hitting ⌘ + B
    The text won't auto format like it does in Processing, but there's a way to set it so it will.
    1. Go under ... Sublime Text - preferences - Key Binding-User
    2. This file is for creating your own keyboard shortcuts. To make the same shortcut as Processing paste
    3. [{ "keys": ["super+t"], "command": "reindent", "args": {"single_line": false} }]

    4. and save the file.
